Bihar Government’s new initiative: Digital Learning and Online Tests Now Mendatory in Schools

The Bihar Government had announced the incorporation of digital learning and compulsory online examination for government schools via the e-Shikshakosh platform. As part of this pilot project, students of Class 3 in five government schools across five districts will take online tests. The main aim of this initiative is to enhance the existing digital education framework and ensure that students learn more deeply.

Pivotal Points of the Approach:

1. Pilot Assignment in Designated State Schools.

      • The assignment will be executed in Patna Bhojpur Jehanabad, Vaishali, and Saran districts.
      • all class 3 learners will participate in online assessments under this scheme.
      • In case it proves to be fruitful, this scheme will be implemented in all state schools in Bihar.

      2. Student Ensuring Data Registration on eShikshakosh Portal.

      • The information of all class 3 students will be uploaded to e-ShikshaKosh Portal.
      • This will ensure that each student’s attendance and evaluation is recorded electronically.

      3. Online Tests for Learners for Class 3 Must be Written Tests.

      • Class 3 students will have to test online in class.
      • The exam will be held on 10th February 2025.
      • Students’ understanding, of mathematics and linguistics, will be the subject of examination.

      The project aims to provide effective education for digital literacy and employability skills to children from slum communities in India using technology.

      4. Digital Evaluation and Monitoring of Exams.

      • It will be possible to fully automate the evaluation process through the digital system.
      • Online Performance Reports of Students Will Automatically Be Accessible to Supervisors in the Education Department through the e-Shikshakosh Platform.
      • School authorities will also be able to access students’ test reports at the school level.

      5. Digital Training and Certification of Teachers.

      • Teachers are now required to train online as well.
      • After training, teachers will be issued a certificate by e-Shikshakosh.
      • This certification must be obtained for teachers’ performance appraisal to take place.

      6. Online Tracking of Student Activities and Performance.

      • Students’ test reports will be automatically uploaded on the e-Shikshakosh Portal.
      • This will assist the education department in considering an assessment of the learning levels.
      • Students performing weakly will be given remedial classes and special support.

      7. Provision of Digital Learning Materials for Schools.

      • Digital learning materials will be provided to government schools in the region.
      • Students will have the opportunity to take online courses and view lectures.
      • Teachers will be instructed in the use of new technologies in teaching.
